Introduction

About This Performance

Why is the sky blue? Why is the ocean blue? Questions that once puzzled us as kids have gradually found their answers—but our love for blue often stays.

Blue can be melancholy, like the pull of blues music. It can also be dazzling, like cloisonné enamel with its brilliant glazes. And there’s that idea of “bluer than blue”—a constant pursuit of something even better. Jazz is rooted in the blues, and our program featured classics by George Gershwin, including Rhapsody in Blue and Summertime—pieces you’ll instantly recognize.

Beyond the music, blues dance is one of the most human ways to connect—both faithful and ever-changing, with every moment uniquely its own.

On Mar 25, Friday Quintet brought a “Rhapsody in Blue” themed evening of blues-inspired music and dance to the National Palace Museum (Southern Branch). Thank you for joining us in person—or watching online.

Mar 25, 2023 — Friday Quintet presented a blue-themed program of music × dance at the NPM Southern Branch. Thank you for attending onsite or watching the replay online.
